I Believe in Jesus Christ
More Than Enough
Read John 6:5–14
According to recent statistics over 963 million people world-wide suffer from hunger, among them sixteen thousand children who die daily from hunger-related causes. This includes people in the United States and Europe. You may consider the problem impossible for you to handle and do nothing.
When Jesus faced five thousand hungry people, He asked two of His disciples for solutions. Philip pointed out the financial constraints of providing food, and Andrew drew attention to the limited resources.
Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many? (John6:9).
Jesus took this seemingly insignificant offering and fed the multitude. Twelve baskets of leftovers were collected.
God needs us to help alleviate hunger today. Like the disciples, we can offer excuses about the impossibility of the task and do nothing, or we can step forward and offer God whatever we have.
Challenge for Today: On its own our contribution is paltry; with God, it is more than enough.
